Acrylic signs are a popular choice for lobby signs. Most non-retail businesses have them displayed as the first thing you see when you enter. It's the customer's first impression of your business.
Materials Used in Lobby & Office Signs
Lobby and office signs are typically made from high-quality materials that balance durability with a professional appearance. Common materials include:
1 - Acrylic – Clear or frosted acrylic offers a sleek, modern look and is often used with standoff mounts or printed graphics on the back.
2 - PVC (Sintra) – Lightweight and cost-effective, PVC is great for custom shapes and vibrant prints.
3 - Metal (Aluminum, Stainless Steel, or Brass) – Often used for dimensional letters or logos to convey a high-end, corporate feel.
4 - Foam Board or Gatorfoam – Used for 3D lettering or layered designs; lightweight but sturdy.
5 - Vinyl Graphics – Frequently applied to acrylic or metal surfaces for branding or messaging.
These materials can be combined to match your brand aesthetic and budget, whether you prefer a minimalistic design or a bold, dimensional display.
Acrylic is available in several colours but most of those colours are limited to 1/8" thickness. Thicker acrylic is limited to clear, white, black, red and blue.
Our flatbed UV printer allows us to print directly to the surface of the acrylic which allows for more complex colours and designs. It does not print on the edges however.
If you require a colour that is not available or you need the edges to match the face, then the letters must be airbrushed. This method is the most costly and also takes longer to make, but the end result is a perfect sign made without compromise.
